Arrival – Ho Chi Minh

First we arrived in Ho Chi Minh, not knowing the name of the hotel, where it was nor a telephone number or streetname. We assumed there was an internet cafe at the airport. But to our surprise, there where no cafees, bad english speaking vietnameese people, and a eager taxi agent wondering if we needed a taxi.

We definetely needed a taxi, but we had to explain our situation. And that we had to find out which hotel we had booked. The agent waited patiently and suggested we good stop by an internet cafe. We had no choice really, so after barging the price to town, we where introduced to our taxi driver, who of did not understand much english, and we had to explain the situation AGAIN.

But he finally understood and drove us to a internet cafe, where I in a hurry, because granny and taxidriver was waiting outside, had to order something from the place, and find the hotel on the internet.

Driving through a city with no traffick light, almost no cars, only scooters driving in every direction with no logic system.

Before we arrived the hotel  we also had to stop by an ATM to take out money. Vietnameese money, before learning the currency. I had to guess . I just knew they had many  zeroes.

The ATM didnt work. Offcourse, it did not recognise the card. So after running back and forth to more than 3 ATMs I cameback to the taxi car and change card. YES it worked.

Finally we arrived at the hotel. The picollos came across the street to help to helpless tourist over the street with to guards on each side.

Just around the corner from our hotel is th e backpackers area, bars, cafes and streetfood:
